The committee on House affairs will recommend for the relocation of Parliament to the site fronting the Chao Phya presently occupied by the Army depot in Nonthaburi, committee chairman MP Nisit Sinthuprai said on Wednesday.
Nisit spoke after leading government and opposition MPs to inspect the site.
The riverfront location meets every requirement to be designated for the new Parliament compound, he said.
He said should the House agree with his report, a budget will be earmarked to buy an additional 150-rai plot to augment the 265-rai site for landscaping reason.
The government is expected to allocate about Bt2 billion for the site and the landscaping. Of the total budget, Bt1.3 billion will be paid for the relocation of the depot.
