ECis confident it could complete the endorsement of balloting results for 456 of 480 House seats, a minimum number required to convene Parliament, before the Monday's deadline, EC secretary general Suthiphon Thaveechaigarn said on Wednesday.
The revote to replace three red-carded candidates in Buri Ram's Constituency 1 will take place on Thursday, the same day EC is expected to complete the review on the final batch of electoral fraud cases, he said.
Some 431 seats have already been filled.
In regard to the red card in Prachin Buri, the EC has scheduled a revote on Januarty 27 and would hold disqualified winner Sunthorn Wilawan from Matchima Thipataya Party accountable for the costs of balloting.
It has also assigned a panel to determine whether there is evidence to link Sunthorn's wrongdoing to his party. The probe on the linkage is mandatory as Sunthorn is also a party executive. If the linkage is established, then the EC is obliged to petition the Constitution Court for party disbandment.
