The Civil Court refused on Thursday to lift its order for protesters to leave Government House immediately - but said it could appeal the order later.

The People's Alliance for Democracy asked the court to reverse its injunction issued on Wednesday.

The court refused, and repeated its order that demonstrators must vacate Government House and get off all roads around the site immediately or be in contempt of court.

PAD lawyer Suwat Apaisak then formally appealed the Civil Court’s injunction. The court accepted the appeal and said the case could be heard within two weeks - but repeated that the injunction to vacate Government House remained in effect.

Ouside the court, PAD core leader Sondhi Limthongkul, who is to be arrested on sight for treason and other charges according to another court decision handed down on Wednesday, argued that defying the court injuction was a "legal" tactic, as part of an appeal. (BangkokPost.com)
