The Office of the Attorney General has urged the Assets Examination Committee to form a joint panel to vet the investigative report on the Bt4 billion Exim Bank loan extended to Burma at the invervention of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, chief prosecutor Seksan Bangsomboon said on Friday.

"Prosecutors found the report inadequate to form a decision on the prosecution review," Seksan said, pointing out to the need for additional evidence.

The AEC earlier indicted Thaksin for abusing power to increase the loan from Bt3 billion to finance a telecom deal involving the company which his Shinawatra family had the controlling stakes.

Seksan said prosecutors would be willing to recommend trial against Thaksin if the AEC agreed to take the additional statement from a key witness.

The AEC is scheduled to review the prosecution request on Monday.
