Deputy Prime Minister Suwit Khunkitti on Tuesday admitted that six coalition parties have remained apart on how to effect constitutional changes and that his Puea Pandin Party wants to focus on solving the people's grievances rather than push for the charter rewrite.
"Today I am concerned about the economic situation and the people's livelihood," he said.
Suwit said he did not see any justification to rush the charter rewrite while the country was facing many economic problems.
"I detect many differences among coalition partners regarding the planned amendments and I don't know when the prime minister will hold a meeting to thrash out differing views," he said.
He said his coalition party has opted to encourage a broad participation of all sectors of society in the rewriting process.
