HUA HIN : Talented Chinese professional Liu Song routed reigning national champion Supoj Saenla 5-1 to lift the Hua Hin Cup yesterday. The tournament was the first event on the SangSom Thailand Professional Circuit.
Liu Song is a former world u-21 runner-up and is now up to No. 51 in the world professional rankings.
He received the trophy from Bongkarn Limpaphan, Deputy Governor of Prachuab Khiri Khan province, the victory at the Hua Hin Grand Hotel was a result of hard work.
Liu Song won 100,000 baht, while Supoj received 50,000 baht for finishing second in the tournament, which was sponsored by CAT Telecom and the Sports Authority of Thailand.
Phaithoon received 15,000 baht for scoring the highest break of the event, a 136-point run recorded in the semifinal against Supoj on Saturday evening.
The final stage of second event will be held at the Khum Suphan Hotel in Suphan Buri province on May 6-11.
