Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej told reporters that the ceremony organised to build up national unity will be held on this Saturday as scheduled.
The decision came after tens of thousands of protesters led by People's Alliance for Democracy occupied the Government House, demanding for Samak Government to resign.
The protest faced a big blow after Court issued arrest warrants for PAD leaders and a Civil Court issued an order for the protesters to get out of the Government House. PAD leaders said police will soon disperse the protest.
Samak on Thursday made a surprising statement that he last night talked to senior police, asking them not to use force on the protesters.
"I told police that they should not use force in dealing with the protest at the Government House," Samak told reporters.
